Greens: What could be fresher tasting and more satisfying than growing your own salad and harvesting it right before mealtime? Or, use the greens for soups, wraps, stir-fries—you name it. Be sure to allow plants to reach full size (leaves should be at least 4 to 6 inches long) before harvesting.
But don’t let these lists limit you. You can actually grow just about any plant hydroponically except space-hoggers like trees and shrubs, or root crops like onions and potatoes. If you want to try growing larger plants (like tomatoes) in the Miracle-Gro® Twelve™ Indoor Growing System, choose compact varieties so they’ll have plenty of room. Whichever plants you decide on, be sure to follow the planting and care instructions that come with your unit. And don’t hesitate to mix it up—when you’re done with one plant, go ahead and replace it with something totally different. After all, you’ve got a 365-day growing season to play with!
Herbs: With your favorite herbs growing nearby, you can give virtually any recipe a pop of fresh flavor. You’ll want to harvest them regularly, too, as doing so will encourage bushy growth for even more tasty herbs down the road.
